Blur License Plate Online

The License Plate Blurrer allows you to quickly obscure license plates in images to protect privacy. You can manually select the area to blur by clicking, dragging, and resizing the selection overlay — or use the automatic detector to find plates for you.

How it works

Everything runs in your browser using the HTML canvas. Optionally the page can lazy-load a detection library (OpenCV.js) to locate likely license plates automatically. The tool applies a masked blur only to the selected region and then lets you download the final image or copy it to the clipboard.

Quick How-To

  1. Upload — Click Choose file and pick a photo of the car (or drag & drop).
  2. Detect or select — Click Detect License Plate to auto-place a box, or manually drag/resize the selection to cover the plate.
  3. Adjust — Choose blur intensity and shape (Rectangle or Oval). Preview the result.
  4. Export — Click Download or Copy to clipboard to save the blurred image.

Privacy & Security

By default processing is client-side: your images never leave your device unless you explicitly upload them. If you enable any server exports or cloud features, we will disclose this on the export dialog.

FAQ

Can I blur license plates without uploading my photo?

Yes, client-side mode processes images in your browser only. Nothing is uploaded unless you choose a server export.

How accurate is automatic detection?

Detection uses heuristics (OpenCV.js contours) and is usually accurate for clear frontal photos. It may fail on heavily angled, occluded or low-resolution plates — you can always manually adjust the selection.

What blur strength should I use?

For high privacy use a blur radius of 40–60 px or use color-fill to completely mask a plate. Always visually confirm the output.
